According to reports, Manchester United is in discussions to secure the services of striker Randal Kolo Muani from Eintracht Frankfurt. The club is exploring this option in case their pursuit of Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta does not materialize.
While United has reached an agreement on personal terms with Hojlund, the transfer fee is still pending finalization with Atalanta, and there is also interest from Paris Saint-Germain in the player.
In response to the situation, Erik ten Hag’s team has engaged in talks with Kolo Muani’s representatives. However, Frankfurt has placed a value of approximately £80 million on the 24-year-old striker, which is a reflection of his impressive performance during the 2022-23 Bundesliga season, where he scored 15 goals and provided 11 assists.
United deems this valuation too steep and is persisting in their pursuit of Hojlund, who is also expected to come with a significant cost. Atalanta’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, has expressed uncertainty regarding the future of the young striker, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the transfer market. Gasperini hopes for a €100 million transfer fee for Hojlund.
In order for Manchester United to meet Ten Hag’s requirements for a quality new No9, a substantial financial investment will be necessary.
