On the concluding day of the #OccupyJulorbiHouse demonstration, protesters took to the streets of Accra on Saturday, September 23, to voice their concerns.
The demonstrators embarked on a march toward the Jubilee House, aiming to emphasize their demands, which included addressing the rising cost of living, eradicating corruption, and enhancing governance, among other pressing issues.
Dressed in somber black attire, the protesters passionately chanted slogans and carried placards bearing messages like ‘Our Leaders Aren’t Patriotic,’ ‘No More Suffering,’ and ‘Thieves in Suits.’ These powerful expressions reflected their frustration with the government and their call for change.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has set up roadblocks along the route leading to the Jubilee House.
This action comes in the aftermath of the initial arrest of nearly 50 protesters during the first day of the demonstration, on charges of unlawful assembly and violating a court order.
The protesters, who claimed to have been subjected to police force during their detention, were subsequently released on Friday after being formally charged.
